Hello! My name is Sydney Smith, and I'm the creator and primary filmmaker for Smithhouse Films. I'm a Placer County lover and have lived in this beautiful part of California my whole life! My husband, Travis, is my co-pilot. We like to joke that he's my employee of the month, every month. We love family game nights, being outdoors on warm summer evenings, and laughing at the most ridiculous puns together.
It wasn't until my first broadcast class that I realized how much I enjoyed using the medium of video to tell a story. The feeling of conveying emotion through film very much intrigued me.

When I graduated with my visual media degree, I knew wedding video was the avenue I wanted to pursue. I knew that I wanted to do more than create videos. I wanted to craft meaningful, life-changing memories.

Throughout the wedding day, I am on the hunt to naturally capture the spontaneous, beautiful moments you will want to remember. During sunset photos, I like to give open-ended prompts that allow you and your fiance the opportunity to show me your unique love story.

In the editing room, my goal is to make your film feel like a vivid, beautiful memory. I love using vintage overlays, film transitions, and ambient audio from the day to give it that dream-like effect.
